Winter Weather

Winter in Fargo feels very quiet. I am sitting outside in the cold with no phone or electronics. The air is sharp and cold against my face. Everything looks still and bright, and the world seems calmer than usual.

The wind moves across the flat land of Fargo. It is steady and cold. My breath forms small clouds in front of me and then fades away. The trees are bare and still. Everything feels calm and frozen in place.

Every few minutes a car drives by. I hear the tires crunch against the ground and the low sound of the engine. The noise fades as the car moves farther away. The headlights shine clearly in the dim winter light. Most people are probably heading somewhere warm while I stay outside watching.

Without electronics I notice more. I see how the light changes across the streets. I hear doors close in the distance. I feel the cold air on my hands and face. Time feels slower when there are no screens to look at.

Living in North Dakota during the winter is not always easy, but moments like this feel peaceful. The cold is strong and the cars keep passing, but sitting here quietly makes me feel calm and aware of the world around me.
